Who are we?

Membership is
open to all who are interested in worshipping the old Gods in a dynamic
and spiritual way. Neo-pagan Druidry is a religion of joy and
celebration. We try to balance solemnity and reverence with mirth and
fun in our rituals. We take our spirituality and
beliefs seriously, but we try
not to take ourselves too seriously. Religious group worship is also a
social gathering for us and all are welcome.
In affiliation
with ADF, we also promote scholarship and study in the ADF Dedicant and
Study Programs, utilizing the best of modern archeological, historical,
sociological and religious research. We adhere to the ADF motto, "Why
not excellence?"
So wander
around our site and visit the web site of our mother Grove, the
ADF! When in Tucson,
feel free to attend one of our rituals,
held on the eight High Holy Days, or come to one of our
meetings!

On July 21, 2004, Sonoran Sunrise
Grove, ADF became a Fully Chartered Grove. To do this, a Grove must be a
Provisional Grove, have had at least nine members for two years and have
a Dedicant Priest as a Grove member At this time (March 2013) we are now a Grove, but not fully chartered
Our Beliefs
ADF embraces the
religion of all the Indo-European cultures, but each Grove usually
specializes in a specific culture. Our Grove's orientation is
Pan-IndoEuropean, meaning we embrace the Gods and beliefs of all the
IndoEuropean
peoples (e.g. Celtic, Nordic, Greek, Indian, etc.).
However, our Druidry
is an orthopraxic religion (where right action is emphasized) rather
than an orthodoxic religion (where right belief is emphasized). This is
probably one of the main differences between ADF Druidry and other
religions.
We also see our
priests as Sacrificial Clergy rather than Sacramental Clergy. Our
priests (male and female) are ritual specialists, acting as the face of
the people, leading them in ritual and making the proper sacrifices, or
offerings, to the Powers. Any sacraments can be done by anyone - we do
not need priests to intercede between the people and the Gods.
We are polytheists,
which means that we worship many Gods and Goddesses, who are not merely
parts of some greater whole, but rather complete entities in themselves.
We also worship the Nature Spirits of fur and feather, leaf and stone
who inhabit the world as well as our Ancestors, be they our own
forebearers, family of heart or the ancient peoples of this land.
The links below will take you to articles
and rituals which explain much about our beliefs.
