Saturday Morning Rituals

Every Saturday morning (except on High Days and during Desert Magic Festival) the Grove holds open, public ritual at the same place where we hold our High Day rites, in the rose garden of The MCC Water of Life Community Church. We make our offerings to the Kindreds and ask for Their blessings in return. These Blessing Rites begin at 8am.

These rituals are held in various Pantheons, depending on the wishes of the Celebrant assigned to that particular day. We have held rituals in the Irish, Welsh, Gaulish, Norse and Hellenic pantheons. These rites are also a Celebrant training ground for the High Days and a time when new ideas can be tried out.

Weekly rituals help a Grove unify and provides a wonderful opportunity for fellowship as well as piety. We hold classes for the ADF Dedicant Program after the rituals.

Kirk celebrates the Irish GodsIRISH PANTHEON

Most of the Celebrants are competent to perform ritual using this pantheon. It is probably the most commonly celebrated pantheon, though Welsh comes close.

The Guardian invoked is usually Cu Chulainn, the Bardic Deity is Brigit and the Gatekeeper is Manannan mac Lir.

Below are two photos from an Irish Saturday morning ritual in December, 2005.

Dennis Rings the BellNORSE PANTHEON

Currently, we have only one Celebrant leading rites using the Norse pantheon, Dennis. We have a few members who follow this pantheon as their personal Hearth Culture, so we hold Saturday morning rites for them occasionally.

The Guardian invoked is usually Thor, the Bardic Deity is Braggi and the Gatekeeper is Heimdall, the keeper of the Bifrost Bridge.

Julian Opens the Gates Hellenic StyleHELLENIC PANTHEON

Julian led our Hellenic rite in November of 2005, and that was our very first one! It was fun to explore a totally different set of Deities that most of us only knew from grade school mythology.

Below are a couple of photos from that rite.
