Summerland was another great festival this year! Put on by the 6th Night Grove, this festival has a great Bardic
Night and a moving Unity Rite every year. This year the weather was remarkably warm - hot even. Very little rain,
however, made for a great time. And the folks from Three Cranes Grove provided the meal plan! Woof!
Workshops included one on the Way of the Warrior by Raven Mann, Indo-European Goddesses by Rev. Sue Parker,
Dragons and Fairies and Giants by Rev. Skip Ellison, the Nature of Sacrifice by Rev. Kirk Thomas, Unlocking
the Wisdom of the Dead by Carrion Mann, Serpents (with live snakes) in IE Lore by Lassair, a trance journey with Linda Costello, a new 9x9 ADF symbolic divination system by Rev. Ian Corrigan, Slavic paper cutting and rite by Rev. Francesca Hedrick, Coming Out of the Broom Closet by Lonnie and Beaker, and Elizabeth Huskey handled the
children's activities.
The Unity Rite was lead by Rev. Sue Parker, and many of our clergy took part, as well as other festival attendees.
During Ian's workshop on his new ADF divination system, the omens made it clear that extra offerings would be
needed. Jim and Dennis offered to the Outsiders and also specifically to the Trickster. Michael offered to the
Nature Spirits and also the the King and Queen under the mound, and after Skip offered to the Deities, Orion also
made an offering to the Goddess of Sovereignity of that place.
On Sunday, many of the folks from Three Cranes Grove invited Kirk to go down to the spring which comes out of
the side of the canyon just below the camp where Summerland is held. It was a truly magical place. Michael may
hold a workshop there on sacred wells next year!
