Midsummer Ritual 2006

"Taranis, please bring the rains!"

For this year's Gaulish rite, Julian Greene (Orator) led us all in turning our wills towards bringing the rain, and toward overcoming fate in our own lives, appealing to the Great Thunderer Himself, Taranis, to stir the cauldron of fate, thus releasing our own magic. We had 107 people attend this rite!

Mark was the Sacrificer, Nora the Seer, Arlene the Bard and Dennis the Warrior.

A play was performed showing our own modern myth of Taranis and Artio, the bear Goddess, and their alliance bringing forth the Taranoi, the people who call the rains. A magic working was also performed to Taranis, where everyone put their energy into a solar wheel, which was set on fire and transported to a waiting pool, mimicking the ancient Gaulish practice of rolling a fiery wheel downhill into a river to summon the summer rains.
