This year we held our annual Warrior Games and Lughnasadh ritual at Sue and Lugh's house out in Vail. The men
came the night before and we set up a big tent where we worked on the offerings for the main rite, rehearsed our
warriors' dance, and had good
male bonding time.
The next day, the women joined us for the Warrior Games, which are open to all Grove members. We did archery,
stone toss, a game of pull the other guy off a board and we all had to compose a poem on the day's activities.
This year's Grove Champion once again is Bert! All Hail Bert!
For the rite, the celebrants were all men (just as the women perform Imbolc). Gannd led the rite, with Kirk as
Seer, Dennis as Sacrificer, Mark as Warrior and Lugh as Sanctifier. All the men who had attended the men's retreat
the night before joined in the warrior's dance, which opened the rite.
For the Key Offerings, we offered a spear to the Fire for Lugh Lamfada and we re-enacted the funeral of Tailtu by
burning a dolly, representing the Goddess who died clearing the land of Ireland, in the Fire as well.
