This year we held our first Desert Magic outside of Summerlands - up on the top of Mt. Lemmon at a Girl Scout
Camp! We were lucky with the weather - while it got a bit cold at night, the days were quite pleasant. Next
year we'll try harder to get our old May dates.
We had an Opening Rite, honoring Math, the Welsh God of Magic, and we left the Gates open for the
weekend. Francesca held a Slavic ADF Rite (where they sacrificed a cake!) during her class and Gannd led the Unity Rite which
utilized the talents of our assembled guests.
At the closing rite on Sunday, at Steve's suggestion, we made a working to heal the wounded land, burned in
the great fire of
three years ago.
For our Bardic evening, Ian and Sue played and sang, and Jack and Meredith led a fantastic auction - and
raised more than $2000! Kirk auctioned off the Archdruid - Kirk produced a tutu and announced that Skip
would put it on and model it if we got $100 in bids. We raised $400 on that one!
Our presenters were many and various! Ian produced his new divination system, based on ADF cosmology. Sue
presented on Indo-European Goddesses, Faolan led an incredible workshop on shapeshifting and the warrior within (and the festivals
back east would do well to bring him out to do these as well!), Kirk did one on the nature of sacrifice, Illious led
us on a tour of the world through beer (and we all got a bit fuzzy at that one), Cei spoke about common IE
mythological themes, Skip spoke about the role of the Seer in IE culture, Linda led a trance journey and
Dennis led a warrior roundtable.
