Calan Haf 2007

The Welsh Beltane

The First Rite in Our Temporary Home.....

Calan Haf (the Beginning of Summer) was our first Rite to be held at the UU Church in NW Tucson. It was a windy and sprinkly day, but we assembled at our usual time.

This was a Welsh Rite, honoring Rhiannon and Pwyll and the story of the loss of their son, Pryderi, and
Rhiannon's punishment at the Gates of Arberth, and the return of their son.

It was also a time to celebrate the Spirits of the Land, and we danced the animal dance. We also dance the Maypole, a great Grove tradition, with great joy and merriment!

Kirk was the Orator, Monica the Sacrificer, Nora the Seer, Arlene the Bard, Mark the Warrior, and our two
Sanctifiers were Cassie and Ben.
