Three Realms Festival 2006 |
"...I can't roll over, but I'm warm..." |
Three Realms Festival brought Jenni Hunt in to do workshops and a Roman Rite, and they supplied her with a
tent and a couple of sleeping bags. It was a bit chilly at night this year, so on Saturday night she put one
sleeping bag inside another and crawled in, keeping nice and warm. In the night, however, she tried to roll over
but instead launched herself off the air mattress and into the side of the tent! She had been so afraid that she would be cold and miserable, but with the wonderful hospitality of Ravens Cry Grove and Awens Breath PG, she was snug and warm. So in appreciation, while lying there, with her face pressed
into the tent side, she came up with a little chant. It goes to the tune of "We Are A Circle Moving" by Marae
Price:
I'm in a sleeping bag that's
Inside a sleeping bag, and
I can't roll over, but I'm warm!
I'm in a sleeping bag that's
Inside a sleeping bag, and
I can't roll over, but I'm warm!
Malibu in October is cold!
But I'm in a dry tent and I'm toasty warm!
I'm in a sleeping bag that's
Inside a sleeping bag, and
I can't roll over, but I'm warm!
This year, Three Realms was jointly organized by Ravens Cry Grove and Awen's Breath Protogrove. There
were a
variety of rituals, from Roman to Slavic to our Opening rite and Main Unity rite as well as classes,
from writing simple chants to ADF cosmology to Roman liturgy, etc. One workshop stood out as different from
what we expected. Faolan gave a workshop called "The Pagan Warrior" which was billed as using the body as
a vehicle for generating energy for physical applications. It was this and more. His techniques enabled me to
reach deep within and connect
with my primal self - this was a form of ecstatic trance. It was an unexpected result for the workshop, but very welcome. I hope he takes this on the road to other festivals!
For SSG members Kate and Tina, this would be their first camping trip, ever! While Kate was concerned that
they might get eaten by a bear, they ended up having a wonderful time.
