MINUTES
Meeting at Maxim's Restaurant, Tucson, AZ
2 October, 2002
  1. Present were Gannd, Michele, Kirk, Steve, Morgan, Don & Arlene, and guests Lala, Amanda, Dani.
  2. Minutes. The Minutes of the meeting at Morgan's on 18 September were approved as submitted.
  3. Pursewarden's Report.
    1. The Pursewarden reported that there was $110 in the Treasury at this time.
  4. Contacting Past ADF Members in Tucson.
    1. Gannd has heard from Epona and gotten her permission.
    2. Don will compile the list of past and current ADF members in Arizona for us.
  5. Fall Fest.
    1. We Druids were well received at the event and ritual.
    2. Over half of the stacks of 5 types of Druidry flyers(50+ each) were passed out.
    3. A Phoenix solitary ADF member named Beverly contacted us for assistance with forming a new Grove. A Sierra Vista ADF member and his wife also stopped by.
    4. Gannd helped out with the Kid's Quest activity, acting as the "snake". He took 22 kids through the Druid Altar and told them all about Druidry. Arlene coordinated the Kids' Quest.
    5. TAWN made $195.
    6. Gannd will make a copy of the Opening and Closing of the Gates text we used at Fall Fest for our web site.
  6. Advertising.
    1. Gannd will send us copies of possible ads by e-mail for our comments. If he receives no comments then he will submit them.
  7. Membership Renewals
    1. Kirk is still waiting for the ADF expiration dates for Morgan and Michelle. Don will get them for us if necessary.
    2. Kirk will make a proposal about renewals at the next meeting.

  8. Autumn Equinox Ritual.
    1. 25 people attended our ritual.
    2. Morgan's took the Oracle at the ritual, using the Tarot. The cards drawn were the 6 of Cups, flanked on the left by Strength and on the right by Judgement. The results were that we were bringing our conscious and unconscious minds back into balance by getting in touch with things of the past, both good and ill, and reassessing our goals. We are also bringing our hidden selves (our beasts within) back into the equation, also bringing us back into balance.
    3. Michele needs a report for the next newsletter.
  9. Old Business.
    1. We received a letter from Daki and Lynda requesting our presence at their wedding vow renewal for a major holiday.
    2. Kirk has responded to their letter and is waiting to hear from them.
  10. New Business
    1. Fundraising - could we make more logo items to sell to raise money?
      1. Ceramics, mugs
      2. Crafts
      3. T-shirts, etc.
    2. Emergency Resonse Actions - things we may need to know about:
      1. Assault and battery
      2. Definition of a Hate Crime
      3. Civil Detention and Citizen's Arrest
      4. Vandalism
      5. General Public Entry on non-High Days
    3. Gannd will make a report at the next meeting.
    4. Ritual Signage - Signs at the Stone Circle
      1. Pan Forge will make some sign hangers to our specification in black iron - cost negotiable.
    5. Three Realms Event - Ravens Cry Grove, ADF in California
      1. Gannd and Kirk will be attending this year.
      2. They will take some of the SSG pins.
      3. They will take extra copies of past liturgies and newsletters for trade.
    6. Craft Classes. Gannd will teach craft classes if anyone is interested. He is also doing this with the SCA.
    7. Welsh Language Lessons. Classes are on Thursday nights and they are free!
  11. Annual General Meeting.
    1. This meeting will take place at Michele's house on Wednesday, October 16, 2002.
    2. Nominations for Office were made:

  12. Welsh Holiday Names
    1. Kirk reported on the Welsh names for the Solstices and Equinoxes.
      1. Samhain - Calan Gaef (First Day of Winter)
      2. Winter Solstice - Alban Arthan
      3. Imbolc - Canol Gaeaf (Middle of Winter)
      4. Spring Equinox - Alban Eiler
      5. Beltane - Calan Mai (First Day of May)
      6. Summer Solstice - Alban Hefin
      7. Lughnasadh - Gwyl Ifan (Feast of Summer)
      8. Autumn Equinox - Alban Elfed
    2. It was decided to hold off on adopting the Welsh names and pantheon for the solstices and equinoxes pending further research.
  13. Samhain Ritual.
    1. Celebrants will be:

      2. Druid 2 - Don
      3. Seer - Kirk
      4. Bard - Arlene
    2. The Ritual will take place at Summerlands Stone Circle on Thursday, October 31 just before sunset. Gates will open at 5:30 pm.
    3. For the Grove praise offering, we will do the Wild Hunt. Kirk will sing "Hoof and Horn" and Arlene and Morgan will dance as dead spirits.
